ParcPlace-Digitalk Holds Third Annual International Users Conference

Leading client/server/web solutions provider previews new Java, and Internet tools to users at Disneyland

ANAHEIM, Calif., -- September 9, 1996 -- ParcPlace-Digitalk, Inc. (NASDAQ: PARQ), a leader in the client/server/web application development tools market, is holding its 3rd Annual International Users Conference from September 9-11 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim. Reflecting its commitment to help customers succeed in a rapidly changing marketplace, ParcPlace will use the conference to showcase current customer solutions and preview the Company's upcoming Smalltalk, Java and Internet developments.

This year's conference will feature a keynote address from leading industry technical expert and PC Week columnist, Peter Coffee. Coffee will discuss the future of Smalltalk -- and ParcPlace's role in the market -- in his talk entitled "Smalltalk: Surviving Its Success." Bill Lyons, president and CEO of ParcPlace-Digitalk, will lead a general discussion outlining how ParcPlace's tools and technology are adapting to today's changing enterprise.

According to Lyons, "Our goal is to help our customers respond to business changes - today. We've expanded on our core technology over the last year to address new market opportunities, such as Java and the web. Now we're blending these and other technologies into an environment that promises a common base for development, without the compromises inherent in other approaches. ParcPlace is delivering best-of-breed solutions, that leverage the capabilities of distributed computing - today."

The conference will provide users with previews of new products and technology from ParcPlace and its strategic partners. Customers will also have the opportunity to attend live demos and technical sessions, as well as learn how to build client/server/web-enabled applications. Panel sessions, led by industry experts and customer peers, will discuss the industry's hottest topics, including application life cycles, Java and the Internet, turning web sites into enterprise applications, and distributed application Development.

Describing one of the benefits of last year's conference, Harpal Sandu, CEO and founder of Integral Development Corporation, noted, "The annual users conference is an excellent forum to learn first hand what strategic direction ParcPlace is headed and what new products we can expect to see in the near future. Hearing about ParcPlace's Internet tool, VisualWave, four months before its general availability allowed us to release our risk management system, RiskNet, that much sooner. In this industry, that much time-to-market can make or break a product."

Integral Development Corporation joins a host of 40 technology providers, including EDS, JP Morgan, Nortel, and Texas Instruments, in presenting at the Conference's technology showcase. Representatives from each company will serve as panelists at individual sessions, describing their success with ParcPlace's tools.
